HUMAN DESIGN 101: The Root Center

Check out the overview of all 9 energy centers here.

WHAT IS THE ROOT CENTER?

Starting from the bottom, the root center is the first center of your chart. It’s the little brown square in the booty of your little triangle person.

The root center is responsible for creating the adrenaline pulse in the body. It’s what gives us the boost of pressure to get started and get going.

This is the feeling from your body that says, “Hey, bub, we gotta get moving.” This can be either in physical movement OR in mental/creative movement – like projects or work.

THE DEFINED ROOT CENTER

If you have a defined root center, you make your own adrenaline pulse

That means 2 main things:

  1. Your body wants/needs consistent (possibly QUITE a bit of) movement. People with defined roots tend to be the ones who sit on the edge of their chair, ready to bounce up at a moment’s notice.

  2. Your body knows it can depend on itself to get things done. So all that outside pressure? Yeah. That’s not a huge deal to you, because you have a little mini buffer to it.

People with a defined root center tend to handle deadlines really well… because deadlines kind of don’t exist to them. Things get done when they get done.

THE UNDEFINED ROOT CENTER

If you have an undefined root center, you pick up on and amplify the energy of anyone with a defined root center.

You don’t make it yourself, but when you have access to it from someone else, WATCH OUT, because there you go startin’ stuff like a mofo.

The pressure of deadlines can be really tough for undefined roots to handle. They will often do anything they can to get it off their plates, RIGHT NOW (or they’ll procrastinate like a pro so they don’t have to think about it).

Be aware of this and remember not to put too much pressure on yourself in terms of deadlines.
