4 easy (non-scary) ways to start getting the magic of your design, right now

Human design is supposed to make our lives easier – but when you first start learning and using it, though, it can feel like it’s making things waaaaay more complicated.

If you’re anything like I was at the beginning (and an over-thinker, also like me), you’re probably wondering:

  • Am I even doing this right?

  • How do I actually start using this (especially if I’m not sure if I’m ready to make a big-ass change)?

  • How do I know if I’m following my design… or just being lazy?

  • [secretly] Uh, what if this, like, doesn’t work? At all???

Luckily, there are a lot of helpful nuggets I’ve picked up along the way that have made using my design way easier – especially in regards to manifesting + creating what I want in life.

Today I’m sharing them with you!

1. Start small.

HD doesn’t just apply to big decisions or actions — and using your design on the “small things” is just actually just as important, because those are the things that happen every day. This is how you seeing big changes using HD!

You don’t HAVE to start with the big, weighty stuff. In fact, I recommend you start small if you’re unsure whether or not it’s going to work for you, or how it’s going to work for you personally, or if you feel totally disconnected from yourself and intuition.

You can start with things like…

  • Following an impulse to go on a walk (manifestor)

  • Say no to one thing that doesn’t excite you (generator)

  • Go “out of order” on your to-do list (manifesting generator)

  • Trying getting into bed 15 minutes earlier than usual, to unwind (projector)

  • Take a break when you’d usually pile on another task (reflector)

It’s going to feel safer, and that way you’ll be more likely to actually listen to what your intuition is telling you. Plus, the better you get with making these smaller decisions, the easier it’s going to be to use your design on bigger decisions when the time comes.

(If you’re noticing that even small decisions stress you out, that’s okay. That’s where I started! It’s how I realized how much I was letting my mind run the show – which was helpful when it came to the big stuff.)

2. Take your time.

The irony of making your design work for you is the more you detach from the outcome, the easier it becomes. I definitely noticed that my design was able to help me the most when I released the time pressure I was putting on myself to “MAKE THIS WORK, YOU DAMNÉD FËWL.”

That’s because the awesome (sometimes frustrating, but mostly awesome) thing about using your Human Design is that it’s a lifelong experiment. You need space to test, try out, play around with, and find out how this works for YOU — so time pressure to “get it right” won’t help you do that.

The even awesome-r thing is that you can start seeing cool things manifest in your life without having it all down right away!

So there’s really no pressure to use this in every part of your life or get it “right” from the get go.

3. Open up your mind about what’s “possible.”

Imagine you have a private plane. It can take you anywhere your soul desires – France, Bali, South Africa, Milwaukee, whatever.  But have to board the plane and trust it can get you there in order to arrive at your destination.

If you’re standing on the tarmac saying, “IDK, I’m not sure this plane can get me there. I think I’ll just fly commercial instead,” then you’ll never get there on that private plane.

How could you? You didn’t even get on!

It’s the same thing with your design. If you don’t give it a chance to work for you, because you secretly think it won’t, it’s never going to be able to.

Hey, I get it. For many of us, the way we’re designed to operate sounds soooooo incredibly different from what they’ve been told you need to do to succeed. It might even sound ridiculous to some of us. In fact, this is the most common issue clients come to me with.

So you need to allow yourself to open your mind a little and have a teeny bit of faith.

There are lots of ways you can do this, but my personal favorites are to:

–> Look for existing proof around you

Changing a belief right out of the gate can be really difficult, so one thing I like to do is look for opposing evidence.

It’s very likely that someone else is doing things the way you’re built to do them, and thriving with it… but when we don’t believe that’s the case, we tend to keep paying attention to things that say we can’t. When you start seeing that, hey, people ARE already living life the way I want to, and it’s working for them, that can help a LOT!

For me, I started reading books by successful people who subscribed to what my design told me to do.

I also started reminding myself of The Law of Polarity, which is a universal law of manifestation that says if you see something you want, even if you don’t have it right now, you’re already on the “spectrum” of having it. You don’t have to “get on” that spectrum, you just have to start releasing resistance around getting to other side of the spectrum.

–> Use affirmations that resonate (or that you would really love to believe).

When I heard myself think, I’ll never make money doing what I love and letting things come to me, I would say, “There is so much more possible than my mind can even imagine right now” or “There are endless ways what I want can come to me.”

You can use whatever you like, or need to hear!

4. Don’t do anything. Just start paying attention.

I know a lot of people probably won’t like this, because it’s not really an action tip (it’s more an inaction tip), but it’s actually incredibly helpful.

The beautiful thing about Human Design is that it shows us that our bodies guide us to exactly what is right for us – and how they do that, too, depending on our unique designs. That means we don’t really have to DO anything. If anything, we have to stop doing… at least based on our minds.

Our bodies are already trying to guide us. Even if it’s through the feeling of dissonance/stress when we don’t follow what they’re asking us to do.

We just have to have a general awareness of how we’re built, learn to tune into ourselves, then follow what that inner self is saying.

So if you’re feeling unsure, just start watching what’s happening in you already. You don’t have to do anything about it yet.

For example:

  • As a sacral generator, notice what excites you and what drains you.

  • As an ego projector, notice what you’re saying yes to because it truly motivates you… and what you’re saying yes to because you know you could accomplish it.

  • As an emotional manifestor, pay attention to how you feel about acting on an impulse over 24-48 hours.

Again, you don’t have to change anything. You don’t have to even think about changing it if you’re not ready. You can take that pressure off of yourself.

Just be honest about what you observe.

Once the time comes for you to actually make a decision, you’ll feel a lot more connected with how your body speaks to you, and what the hell it’s saying when it does!
